Project Strategy

A two week Summer School will be organized to give over 700 girls of selected SHS and JSS in the Bole and Sawla Tuna Kalba Districts a unique opportunity to interact with 25 young volunteer female scientists, tutors and facilitators, and be exposed to learn from a wide range of opportunities offered by the study of STEM subjects. They will also interact with 70 volunteer motivational speakers, mentors, role models and mind changers to boost their confidence about participating in STEM-related courses, and help to challenge the negative perceptions they may have about pursuing a career in STEM. Jaksally will also facilitate a post summer school monitoring, evaluation and reporting for STEM Education.

The Summer school will run annually to continue to sensitize, campaign, expose and create opportunities for children /girls of widows in various STEM-related careers that girls can pursue (e.g. teaching, medicine, laboratory work, or telecommunications engineering). Jaksally will collaborate with the Girls’ Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service and other interested partners.
